The Bicycle Escape and Singlespeed Outlaw's are proud to present.....The MoCo SMORE's ride. Yep you guessed it. This will be a ride for the SMORE's, you know the little one's, Mini me's, Little whipper snapper's, the offspring, Kids, etc. We want to get the kids hooked on Mountain biking early. Plus this gives a chance to ride with our kids.

These weekly rides will be on Tuesday's at 6pm. Starting on May 22nd. We will rotate which park we ride at. There are several parks around Germantown which are great for kids to ride at. Check this thread every week to find where the starts from. The Main parks will be Schaeffer Farm, Hoyles Mill and Black Hills.

There are a couple of things you need to know.

1. All participants must wear a helmet (adults, this also means you).

2. Have a bike in good working condition.

3. Everyone must sign the MORE waiver.

4. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (this ride is about riding with your child as much as it is about getting kids to ride)

5. Rides are weather permitting. So check this thread for updates.

6. Have fun and enjoy riding with your child.

Of course all rides will be adult lead and have an adult sweeper. Todd Bauer and David Kegley with be the primary leaders of these rides.

Hey All:

RockShox Ride Experience is coming to MD!

I'm planning to set up the tents in Frederick, either at Hamburg Rd or Sand Flats. I have forks and rear shocks for you to try out, on your bike. You show up, I bolt one on and off you go. Your bike, your trails, RockShox suspension.

I have SID, Revelation, Lyrik, Totem and BoXXer so I can accommodate all types of riders. I'll have 29r and 26r forks with 15 and 20mm thru as well as a few qr forks but all with disc brakes, straight, tapered and carbon crowns/steerer.

For rear shocks, I have almost all eye-to-eye/stroke combos in Monarch, Monarch Plus, Vivid Air and Vivid Coil.

No rsvp is required but it will be first come, first served.

Please feel free to ask any questions and provide any input you may have.

I think the time has come to upgrade to a Full Suspension 29er, but I have never ridden one outside of a parking lot.

Can people please provide me with some recommendations on brand and price.

I have been looking to stay with Trek (as i currently ride a 2011 6700 and the bike is sick). I was looking at a 2012 Rumblefish Elite or a 2012 Superfly Elite. I have also reciently put my eye towards the Santa Cruz Tallboy, and then even more reciently SC came out with the Superlight 29.

Please any feedback would be much appreciated. Also is there any bikeshop that will let me demo a 29er (take it on a trail)?

I can't wait to see those new Divide bikes from Moots. Lookin' purty sweet!

On Wednesday, May 16, the Arlington Drafthouse will be showing "24 Solo", hosted by film maker Jason Berry and 6-time World Champion Mountain Biker Chris Eatough who stars in the film. It's also a fundraiser for Trips for Kids and IMBA. $5 gets you in, and that includes a raffle ticket.

http://www.arlingtondrafthouse.com/?page=event&eid=1523

For people who live in MD or NW DC, I will be leading a ride to the theater, and back after the movie. We can eat and have a beer during the movie.

Meet at Sangamore Safeway parking lot at 5:30p. Ride into VA through Chain Bridge, W&OD, 4-mile run, and return via 4-mile Run, Mt Vernon Trail and Capital Crescent.

I'll be on my mountain bike, but cross bikes or road bikes with good tires can also work. Bring a light for the return trip.

Ride will be canceled if it rains (the movie will not!) but not if the trails are simply wet (it's mostly paved trails).

So I was out on the greenway trail about to cross the creek to head to Damascus. I rolled over a tree branch lying across the trail. I didn't bother to hop over it as it was only about 1-1.5" but sort of shaped like a Y. I hit it and the next thing I know, the other branch rolled up like a frickn whip (think your dads belt) and smacked the living s#$7 out of my leg! Man, I tell ya, I was almost in tears!

So to my surprise the snakes are already back out at Schaeffer!

I came flying around the last turn out of the woops on the Orange trail. You basically come out to a left turn riddled with tree roots and a tree at the apex on your left making for a bit of a blind turn. You have to carry some speed to make it over all the roots so when I made the bend, I slammed on the brakes, squealed like a little school girl and somehow managed to get off my bike all at the same time.

There stretched out across the trail was a black snake. I am guessing that it was at least 3' as it spanned the entire trail and I couldn't see either end of it. I dragged my bike back from it and started searching for a stick. Damn More folks and their cleaning of the trails. I had to walk at least 20' before I found a stick suitable for snake whipping!

I then started poking at it to figure out which end was which and it wouldn't move. I then started thinking it was dead until it's head finally poked out from the right side of the trail. Holy crap, this thing had to be all of 4.5' long!! I started trying to push it along and eventually it turned and headed back across the trail to the left. I continued poking it along until it was completely in the brush and finally threw the stick at it for good measure!

I tell ya, it scared the piss out of me. Litterally. I had to run off the trail to find a tree afterwards! Other than that, it was the only one I saw but I suspect there will be more here soon. Especially in the areas where the trail boarders the fields out there.

Hey Friends, Who's going to Stokesville for the Memorial day weekend MTB festival this year? Penny and I will be there, and we look forward to seeing familiar faces, and meeting new friends.

My fitness level is non existant, I am another year older, fatter, and slower, but my enthusiasm has grown at a greater rate than my waistline. So little bald knob, reddish knob, wolf run, chestnut, Yea baby yea, bring it on. Maybe this year is the year I try Braileys pond and dowells draft?

This is just an FYI. I did a quick ride yesterday at Cedarville. While riding I noticed that there was a lot of overgrown foliage reaching into the trails that was slapping at my arms and legs, otherwise the trails were perfect.

Half way in I noticed a small brown dot on my arm. Turned out to be a deer tick. ( Yeah, it bit me the bugger. ) When I got home I did a more thorough inspection and found another on my leg. :nope:...Now it looks like I have to do a Lyme watch. Time to buy a new bottle of repellant.

I've got a brand new, never built up, never even unwrapped, Medium 2012 Trek Gary Fisher Superfly Pro frame for sale:

I'd like to get $1200 for the frame.

These wheels are 29er 2011 Bontrager Race Lites. They have about 9 months of riding on them, but are in good shape with out a few minor scratches. There is no skewer for the rear wheel.

I'd like to get $150 for the wheels.

I've also got a Fox F29 FIT RL with E2 steerer, custom G2 geometry. This fork is specifically designed to be used with Trek's geometry. Like the wheels it has about 9 months of riding on it but it was recently serviced and completely rebuilt.

I'd like to get $200 for the fork, or $1300 for the frame / fork combo.

Finally I have an X9 front, and rear derailleur, and shifters, 3X10. Again they have about 9 months of riding on them.

I'll let these go for $100.

Let me know if you're interested in anything here.

Selling my 58cm 2009 Scattante full carbon road bike. I bought this new in 2010 and never rode it until this year. Bike has less than 300 miles on it total. Bike is in good shape with a few dings here and there from learning to clip in. Bike just got a complete tune-up as well. Selling because the shop I bought it at sucked at fitting and this bike is way too big for me. It has ALX220 wheels, Shimano 105 rear, and Tiagra front and shifters. Carbon seat post and new Forte seat. Bars were just wrapped with new tape to for thicker wraps. Looking to sell this so i can get a proper sized bike. Does not come with seat bag or Garmin speed sensor but does come with bottle cages and Forte Delta pedals. $700 and I can arrange to meet with buyer. PM or call Brian at 410-615-4100 if you have any questions. Thanks. I tried to post pics but they didn't attach so I can email photos for you.

I am a sometimes SS racer. I was thinking doing these races SS. I race a 32 x 18 at the W@W races on a 29er. I do fine, besides the switchbacks. I do spin out on the Fireroads, but over-all I like that gear there. Was wondering what people run at these races. Another refrence point I ran a 32x22 at 12 hours of Lodi and I like that gearing since you had to get out of corners quickly. For Fountain head I did it like 2 years ago on a 32 x 20 and that was a little too much after 2 laps.

thanks,
